Professor Ali Riaz, Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission, stated that political parties have reached a principled agreement to avoid exploiting the declaration of a state of emergency for political purposes. This consensus emerged during the tenth day of the second-phase dialogue with political parties held at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Monday. The meeting also addressed the expansion of lower courts at the upazila (sub-district) level. Professor Riaz noted that a detailed discussion took place on Article 141 of the Constitution, which governs emergency declarations, and a revised proposal was presented, necessitating further dialogue in the future.
