Police in Sylhet’s Balaganj area have recovered the partially decomposed, headless body of an Indian national from a canal. Local residents spotted the body floating on Thursday afternoon and alerted authorities. Police believe the remains were carried downstream from the Indian side of the border via the Kushiyara River. Items found in the victim’s pockets included a mobile phone, a set of keys, a wallet, Indian currency, photographs, and an Indian national identity card identifying the deceased as Gouranga Ghosh. Assistant Sub-Inspector Kanon Kumar Das confirmed that the body has been sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
