England seized full control of the second Test against Pakistan at Lord’s, ending the rain-interrupted third day at 177 for seven in their second innings and holding a 357-run lead. Resuming their second innings with a 180-run advantage, the hosts reached their total in 46.5 overs. Dan Lawrence was unbeaten on 50 from 64 balls, while Harry Brook made 34, opener Emilio Gay scored 31 and Joe Root added 24.

Pakistan’s first innings collapsed to 110 in 37.2 overs under England’s pace attack. Opener Azan Wais top-scored with a patient 46 from 102 balls, but no other batter mounted substantial resistance. Babar Azam made eight, while Imam-ul-Haq did not bat because of a calf-muscle injury. Ollie Robinson took four wickets for 11 runs, Jofra Archer claimed three for 26 and Josh Tongue took two.

Mohammad Abbas led Pakistan’s bowling again in England’s second innings with three wickets for 48 runs, while Khurram Shahzad took two for 56. England had earlier been dismissed for 290, led by Jamie Smith’s 61 and Jordan Cox’s 55. With three wickets remaining, England are positioned to set Pakistan a large fourth-day target.
