State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Haque Nur said the government is prioritizing the development of skilled workers for manpower export as new markets are being explored following the outbreak of war in the Middle East. He made the remarks on Wednesday while addressing a migrant conference organized by OKUP at the Probashi Kallyan Bhaban auditorium.

Regarding the Malaysian labor market, the minister said it remains closed, and discussions are ongoing to reopen it under fair recruitment conditions. He noted that Bangladesh has issued 423 licenses under Malaysia’s conditions and urged that all be allowed to operate. Nur emphasized that as Bangladesh is overpopulated, ensuring employment both domestically and abroad is essential to prevent social instability.

He added that training centers (TTCs) currently offer courses in about 58 trades, though facilities vary across 104 institutions. The ministry has identified gaps and requested necessary equipment, with plans to seek budget allocations for modernization.
