Leaders and participants in Rangpur observed July Martyrs’ Day on Thursday by paying tribute at the July Memorial and calling for unity to strengthen democracy and advance national prosperity. The event was attended by the Minister for Liberation War Affairs, the State Minister for Water Resources, and representatives from political, administrative, and social organizations. The Liberation War Affairs Minister said the spirit of the July martyrs would inspire democratic consolidation and national progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

At Babonpur village in Pirganj, Dhaka North Jamaat-e-Islami leader S.M. Khaliduzzaman visited the grave of July Movement martyr Abu Sayeed, expressing concern that the country was again moving toward authoritarianism. He alleged that the ideals of the July Movement remained unfulfilled. Later, local Jamaat leaders held prayers and a rally at the site. Leaders from the Bangladesh Nationalist Students’ Party and Islami Chhatra Shibir also paid tribute, urging justice for past killings and warning of protests if delays continued.

Throughout the day, various programs in Rangpur honored the martyrs, emphasizing justice, democracy, and equality as guiding principles for the nation.
