The United States and Iran have reached an agreement on a peace accord scheduled to be signed on June 19, with Pakistan serving as the key mediator. The memorandum of understanding is expected to be formally signed in Switzerland on Friday. The accord has been widely welcomed by world leaders, who described it as a major diplomatic breakthrough aimed at ending regional hostilities.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres hailed the agreement as a significant step toward peaceful resolution and expressed gratitude to Pakistan, Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and other regional partners for their constructive roles. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and other global leaders also praised the accord and Pakistan’s mediation efforts.

The E4 group—comprising the UK, France, Germany, and Italy—stated that they are ready to lift sanctions on Iran if progress continues on its nuclear program. Several leaders emphasized that the deal could reopen the Strait of Hormuz, enhance regional stability, and boost global economic security.
