Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, Secretary General of the AB Party, has stated that an upper house of parliament would be futile unless it ensures power balance and accountability, potentially becoming a burden on the state. He stressed that if seats in the upper house are distributed like the lower house, accountability cannot be achieved. The AB Party demands a proportionally representative upper house with participation from all political parties. Fuad also warned that it must not become a rehabilitation center for political figures. Joint Secretary Barrister Sani noted that while consensus has been reached among parties on a caretaker government, deadlock remains regarding the upper house and reserved seats.
