A widowed woman in Nalchity upazila of Jhalakathi district has alleged that she and her child were forcibly evicted from their home following her husband’s death. A case has been filed against seven individuals, including Shahid Alam, a local leader of the Dapdapia Union unit of the Sramik League. The complaint states that the accused displayed lethal weapons such as machetes and iron rods, creating fear and panic among locals, and carried out attacks, looting, and vandalism before driving the woman and her child from their residence.

According to the case statement, the complainant, Lamia Akter, claimed that the accused took advantage of her vulnerable situation after her husband’s death to seize her property. Local sources reported that the accused have long maintained influence in the area, and the incident has caused widespread fear among residents.

Investigating officer Sub-Inspector Mannan confirmed that an investigation has begun following the case filing and that efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
