BNP Vice Chairperson Nargis Begum has accused associates of Sheikh Hasina, currently in hiding, of creating unrest in the country. She claimed that the absence of an elected government has rendered law enforcement inactive, leading to a rise in crimes such as murder and rape. Emphasizing the role of women in social change, she praised Begum Khaleda Zia for leading the resistance against autocrat Ershad for nine years and completing the pro-people initiatives of late President Ziaur Rahman. Nargis called the interim government illegitimate and demanded a free and fair election to restore democracy, urging a complete boycott of the Awami League.
