Prime Minister Tarique Rahman met a three-member delegation from the voluntary organization BD Clean on Tuesday, July 14, at his office in the National Parliament. The meeting focused on BD Clean’s ongoing activities to build a cleaner Bangladesh, protect the environment, and raise public awareness. State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam was also present during the meeting.
The delegation included Champa Akter and Zahirul Islam Robi, both former chief coordinators, and Masudur Rahman, the current chief coordinator. Founded on June 3, 2016, with a single volunteer, BD Clean now operates in 58 districts and 165 upazilas with more than 58,000 members. Over the past decade, the organization has cleaned 18 canals, 7 rivers, and 76 parks while conducting regular cleanliness drives and awareness programs.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister praised BD Clean’s volunteers for their contribution to creating a cleaner and more livable Bangladesh and emphasized expanding such public awareness initiatives. The BD Clean representatives expressed their commitment to working under his leadership to make Dhaka cleaner, more livable, and environmentally friendly.
