Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Dinesh Trivedi met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat at about 11 a.m. on Monday. The Prime Minister’s Office described the meeting as a courtesy call but did not disclose any subject discussed during the meeting.

Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and the prime minister’s foreign affairs adviser, Humayun Kabir, were present. Trivedi had separately met Khalilur Rahman on Sunday and Humayun Kabir on August 3, according to the report.

After meeting the prime minister, Trivedi left without briefing journalists waiting outside. Reporters were later told that he would not speak at that time. On Sunday, after inaugurating a children’s playroom at the Indian Visa Application Centre in Kuril, he said many existing problems could be resolved if the two countries’ heads of government sat together. He also said he was fully confident of positive solutions to existing crises and that bilateral matters were moving forward with a positive outlook.
