An Iranian ballistic missile struck a residential area in central Tel Aviv on Saturday, killing one woman, according to BBC reports. The incident marks the first reported Israeli death in the ongoing conflict following joint Israeli and U.S. attacks on Iran. Bulldozers were deployed to clear debris from the destroyed apartment building, while witnesses described seeing explosions overhead as Israeli interceptors attempted to counter incoming missiles.
BBC correspondents reported that Israel’s air defense system intercepted most of the Iranian missiles, but several managed to penetrate the defenses, particularly during heavy barrages. The attack damaged at least 40 buildings in Tel Aviv, and around 300 residents were relocated to three hotels, Israeli media said.
The missile strike came amid continued Iranian retaliation for earlier Israeli and U.S. operations, signaling an escalation in hostilities between the two nations.
