Hasnat Abdullah, the chief organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP) for the southern region, made a controversial remark on Saturday, saying he prays that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia lives to witness Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s execution. He made the statement while visiting the critically ill Khaleda Zia at a hospital in Dhaka, where she is being treated in the CCU for severe respiratory complications, pneumonia, and multiple chronic illnesses including kidney and liver problems. Abdullah accused the government of denying Khaleda adequate medical care during her imprisonment, leading to her deteriorating health. Meanwhile, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and interim government Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus have both urged the nation to pray for Khaleda Zia’s recovery, emphasizing her importance to the country’s democratic process and political stability.
