A primary school head teacher named Shatabdi Chakma, aged 50, died after being electrocuted in Rangamati’s Naniarchar upazila on Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. in the Samaj Kalyan area of Ghilachhari Union when she was on her way to work. While waiting for a CNG-run autorickshaw, she attempted to pick jam fruit using a green bamboo stick, which accidentally touched a high-voltage electric wire. She collapsed on the spot and was later declared dead at Rangamati General Hospital.
According to hospital officials, Shatabdi Chakma was brought in dead with minor burn marks on her hand. Police confirmed the incident and stated that her body would be handed over to her family after completing legal procedures. The deceased was the head teacher of Ramharipara Government Primary School and a resident of Sukhineelganj area under Rangamati municipality.
Her sudden death has cast a shadow of grief over her family, colleagues, students, and local residents.
