According to a statement posted on the police’s official Facebook page Thursday night, scammers have been sending WhatsApp messages impersonating high-ranking officials to demand money. The police cautioned citizens not to respond to such messages or assume that a profile picture of a well-known person confirms the authenticity of the number. Authorities assured that the police remain vigilant and will take strict legal action against anyone involved in such fraudulent schemes.
