National Citizen Party (NCP) convener and opposition whip Nahid Islam has accused Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed of neglecting efforts to improve law and order while remaining preoccupied with constitutional amendments. He made the allegation on Tuesday afternoon at the July Women’s Assembly organized by Jatiya Nari Shakti at the Diploma Engineers Institute in Kakrail, Dhaka.

Nahid Islam said that people had expected improvements in law and order under the elected government, but the situation had worsened. He recalled the events of July 14, describing it as a historic day when women played a significant role in movements and were later targeted for their participation. He emphasized the need to ensure women’s political and social security and urged continued efforts to realize women’s demands.

He also demanded justice for the July killings and questioned the government’s decision to remove the ICT Tribunal, calling the ten-year sentence of Inu unacceptable.
