A Chuadanga court has sentenced Abul Hossain, also known as Fatik, to death and fined him 200,000 taka for the rape and murder of a 10-year-old schoolgirl named Morium in Jibannagar upazila. The verdict was delivered on Monday by Judge Md. Moktagir Alam of the Chuadanga Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal in the presence of the accused.

According to court and case documents, on December 21, 2023, Morium went to a field in Goalpra village with other children to collect vegetables. The accused lured her into a cornfield under the pretext of helping and then raped and killed her. Following investigation, police filed a charge sheet against Abul Hossain, a resident of nearby Goyeshpur village, who later gave a confessional statement under section 164.

Public Prosecutor M.M. Shahjahan Mukul stated that the court reached its decision after hearing testimony from 31 witnesses. Both the plaintiff and the prosecution expressed satisfaction with the verdict.
