BNP-nominated candidate Mirza Abbas has been unofficially declared the winner in the Dhaka-8 constituency. The result was announced late Thursday night following a highly discussed and tense counting process. According to the returning officer, Abbas received 56,552 votes, defeating his rival, NCP candidate Nasiruddin Patwari, who secured 51,572 votes. Abbas won by a margin of 4,980 votes.

The Dhaka-8 constituency had a total of 275,471 registered voters, including 152,795 men, 122,675 women, and one voter of the third gender. The announcement came after a night marked by disputes and heightened tension surrounding the vote counting process.

The result adds to the ongoing political developments in Dhaka, where several constituencies have seen close contests and post-election reactions, though no official confirmation of the final results has yet been reported.
