Abidul Islam Khan, joint general secretary of the Dhaka University unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and a former DUCSU vice president candidate, criticized Jamaat-e-Islami for not taking any action after a video involving one of its members of parliament was leaked online. In a Facebook post on Tuesday, he said the video, verified as real by Rumor Scanner, showed the MP in a personal moment with a woman claimed by the district Jamaat to be his second wife. However, the party has not provided clarity on the marriage date or documentation.

Abid argued that such behavior raises serious ethical and accountability questions for a public representative. He noted that the MP had previously expressed misogynistic views, which he said reflected the party’s stance, but questioned whether this alleged misconduct also represented Jamaat’s position. He urged both Jamaat and the national parliament to take a clear and transparent stance, warning that silence undermines moral credibility.

He further stated that if the woman involved is a minor or if consent issues exist, the matter should be investigated under criminal law regardless of political status.
