Two explosions were heard from a tanker transiting the Strait of Hormuz, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations. The incident was reported near the coast of Kumzar, Oman, in a report published on August 6, 2026. The vessel and its crew were reported safe.
UKMTO said the tanker's master, or captain, heard two explosion sounds while the vessel was passing through the strait. The master subsequently reported the incident to the maritime monitoring body. In a statement, UKMTO confirmed that the captain had reported hearing the two sounds during the transit.
Available reports said no damage was caused to the tanker and its sailors were unharmed. UKMTO did not immediately provide details about the cause of the explosions or the source of the sounds.
