A Dhaka court has remanded 15 people arrested from the Bashundhara Residential Area over allegations that they planned sabotage and terrorist activities surrounding August 15. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Riyad Hasan issued the remand order on Sunday after an application by the investigating officer, according to prosecution division sub-inspector Kamal Hossain.
Police said the 15 were among 54 people arrested from a house in the Bashundhara Residential Area under Bhatara police station on the night of August 13. The detainees were described as leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and affiliated organisations. Police said two of those arrested were minors.
The people sent on remand include Limon Khan, Dewan Ismail, Fahim Mia, Ratan, Rakib alias Rafi, Ratul Shil, Minarul Mia, Masud Rana alias Limon, Jihad Hasan, Abu Saim alias Sayem Babu, Fahim, Shakil Mia, Rajib, Sani and Rajan Mia. The report did not specify the duration of the remand or further court proceedings.
