Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and five other Muslim countries have condemned Israel for rejecting a proposed comprehensive peace plan for Gaza and the establishment of a Palestinian state. In a joint statement issued Monday, the eight countries said Israel’s position was harmful to efforts aimed at advancing peace in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.

The countries said Israel’s rejection amounted to a direct departure from President Donald Trump’s comprehensive peace plan and threatened efforts to implement it. They held Israel responsible for creating obstacles to peace in Gaza, arguing that its current stance was hindering attempts to establish peace across Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.

According to the statement, Palestinian groups’ acceptance of the roadmap resulted from a broader diplomatic effort. The countries said a two-state solution was the only route to just, lasting and comprehensive peace, including the creation of an independent Palestinian state. They called on all parties to move forward with implementing the roadmap and to cooperate with ongoing diplomatic efforts supporting the comprehensive peace plan.
