The Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Begum Khaleda Zia, Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and former Prime Minister. She passed away at 6 a.m. on December 30, 2025, while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. In a joint condolence message, AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Monju and Secretary General Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad described her as a unique figure in Bangladesh’s democratic politics and an integral part of the nation’s political history. The AB Party leaders stated that Khaleda Zia served three terms as Prime Minister and played an unforgettable role in defending democracy, national interests, and citizens’ rights. They said her leadership and contributions would remain bright in the country’s political history, noting her uncompromising stance against autocracy and fascism. The statement also alleged that she was imprisoned and deprived of proper medical care due to political vengeance, which they termed a national disgrace. The party leaders prayed for the forgiveness of her soul and extended condolences to her family, party members, and the nation, urging prayers for her eternal peace.
