Van Verch, Executive Vice President of Airbus, has identified Bangladesh as a key priority market for the company. Speaking to Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Verch expressed Airbus’ interest in partnering with Biman Bangladesh Airlines to make the national carrier profitable. He mentioned that Airbus, which delivers around 800 aircraft annually, also has experience in producing helicopters and fighter jets. Dr. Yunus assured that while Bangladesh will listen to all proposals for modernizing its fleet, decisions will not be rushed. Verch added that if Airbus aircraft are chosen, up to 85% of the funding could be arranged through Export Credit Agency (ECA) financing.
