A 30-year-old man named Md. Jasim Uddin, identified as mentally challenged, died early Sunday, June 7, 2026, while undergoing treatment at Feni General Hospital. He had been brought to the hospital around 11 p.m. on Saturday by unidentified individuals after being found injured near the city’s Boro Mosque area. Hospital officials confirmed that he had visible injury marks and died during treatment.
Police later identified the victim as the son of the late Tomsir Ali from Ronkeli village in Golapganj, Sylhet. According to Feni Model Police Station’s officer-in-charge Gazi Muhammad Fouzol Azim, Jasim Uddin was involved in a scuffle and altercation in the Boro Mosque area on Saturday night, during which he was beaten. The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has confirmed his identity and is conducting an inquiry into the incident.
Authorities stated that legal procedures are underway, and the body has been kept in the hospital morgue pending further investigation.
