According to official results announced around 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, he secured a total of 189,876 votes under the 'balance scale' symbol. His nearest rival, BNP candidate Shahjahan Mia, received 160,719 votes, leaving a margin of 29,157 votes between them.
Voting took place continuously from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. across 159 polling centers. The district returning office reported that approximately 72 percent of registered voters cast their ballots. Election officials described the polling and counting process as peaceful and orderly.
