RAB has arrested Md Farid, the main accused in a case involving a tourist’s death during parasailing at Dariyanagar on Cox’s Bazar sea beach. Farid, identified by RAB as the owner of the parasailing company, was detained on Thursday night from the Azad Mini Market area of Middle Pirerbagh under Mirpur Model Police Station in Dhaka.

According to RAB, the parasailing operation at Dariyanagar was being run without adequate safety measures. A tourist died after the parasailing rope snapped, and Farid was named the main accused in connection with the incident. RAB-15 from Cox’s Bazar and RAB-4 from Dhaka conducted the joint special operation.

The arrest was announced in a news release signed by RAB-15 Assistant Director for Law and Media, Assistant Superintendent of Police A M Faruk, on Friday morning. RAB said the team acted on confidential information and arrested Farid at around 9:30 pm on Thursday. During preliminary questioning, Farid admitted that he had fled Cox’s Bazar and gone into hiding in Dhaka, according to RAB.
