Mohammad Rajib, the elder brother of slain Fayzul Islam Rajon, testified as the 28th witness in a crimes against humanity case linked to the July uprising. His testimony was recorded on Sunday at International Crimes Tribunal-2 in a case against banned Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader and seven senior Jubo League and Chhatra League leaders.

Rajib said Rajon was a twelfth-grade student at Dhaka Model Degree College in Mirpur-13 and also worked at a cosmetics shop. He said Rajon had joined the anti-discrimination student movement from July 17. Rajib told the tribunal that his mother last spoke with Rajon around noon on July 19. That evening, an unidentified woman phoned and said Rajon had been shot dead.

According to Rajib, his sister Shanta later confirmed Rajon’s death after checking at Mirpur Ajmal Hospital. He alleged that armed Awami League and Jubo League activists outside the hospital prevented the body from being taken away. Rajib said an unidentified person later transported the body by ambulance to their Keraniganj home, where he saw a large bullet wound on Rajon’s right chest and said the bullet had exited through his back.
