Israel’s military has acknowledged responsibility, two years after the killing of five-year-old Hind Rajab in Gaza, according to a military investigation cited by the report. The investigation said Israeli forces fired on the Rajab family’s vehicle and on a Palestine Red Crescent Society ambulance sent to rescue her. Hind’s mother, Wesam Hamada, said justice cannot be measured through a military investigation while Palestinian children continue to die.

Hamada, 30, told TRT World by phone that “justice is stopping the war.” On January 29, 2024, Hind and her family were fleeing Gaza City under Israeli military orders when their black Kia vehicle was fired upon, the investigation found. More than 300 bullets hit the car, killing Hind’s uncle, who was driving, and other relatives. Her 15-year-old cousin Layan spoke to PRCS dispatchers before she was killed.

Hind, the only survivor initially, remained trapped among relatives’ bodies and repeatedly called PRCS for help. Contact was later lost with her and the dispatched ambulance crew. Her pleas became a global symbol of children’s suffering in war and inspired the documentary “The Voice of Hind Rajab.” UN data cited in the report says more than 64,000 children were killed or injured between October 7, 2023 and October 7, 2025.
