BNP Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu has announced that party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is in good health and will participate in the upcoming elections. Speaking about the electoral landscape in Feni, Mintu said, “Everyone knows Feni’s electoral history. If the election is fair, Insha’Allah, BNP will win here.” He added that an interim government had issued a joint statement following discussions with the party’s acting chairman in London, expressing expectations that elections would be held by the first week of February. However, considering the current political climate, elections might be held earlier — possibly in January. Mintu also reiterated BNP’s longstanding position that the 2008 elections were neither free nor fair.
