Following Dr. Muhammad Yunus' comments about the Seven Sisters region, Tripura leader and Tipra Motha party chief Pradyot Manikya issued a veiled threat, suggesting that India could carve out a sea route for the region by dismantling Bangladesh.
Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticized Yunus’ remarks, calling them "objectionable," while Congress leader Pawan Khera described them as "dangerous for Northeast India." Previously, during his China visit, Dr. Yunus had asserted that Bangladesh was the only maritime gateway for the Seven Sisters, highlighting its strategic economic potential for China.
