Internet access in Iran has been largely cut off for about 90 days following the outbreak of war involving the United States and Israel.

The communications ministry’s public relations chief was cited in the report, which linked the shutdown to a series of domestic and international crises. Iran began restricting internet services in late December 2025 after widespread anti-government protests erupted over rising inflation, currency depreciation, and a deepening economic crisis. By late February, as the conflict with the United States and Israel escalated into military attacks, the government almost completely severed internet connectivity.
