A man named Md. Sohag, aged 35, died after being struck by lightning in Chandpur on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. in the Meghna River at Company Char area. Sohag, son of Nur Islam from the same locality, was bathing in the river with several others when sudden rain began and lightning struck. Another person named Arif was injured in the same incident.

Local residents rescued both victims and took them to Chandpur 250-bed Government General Hospital. The attending doctor declared Sohag dead upon arrival, while Arif received primary treatment and was later released.
