The Border Security Force (BSF) pushed over a hundred people into Bangladesh over the last two days at the Barlekha border in Moulvibazar. Border guards (BGB) detained 44, including women and children. Confirming their Bangladeshi citizenship, BGB handed them over to local police. So far, 35 have been released to their families, while relatives of the remaining nine are en route to the police station.

To prevent Indian BSF from pushing back alleged Bangladeshis across the Kasba border in Brahmanbaria, BGB has heightened security in the area. Naik Subedar Masudur Rahman said patrols are active near border pillars 2049–2053. Locals have been engaged through community meetings, and BGB forces remain on alert to counter any unauthorized repatriation attempts from Gujarat, India.

Citing national security concerns, Indian authorities requested YouTube to block access to four Bangladeshi television channels—Jamuna TV, Ekattor TV, Banglavision, and Mohona TV—from Indian territory. Users in India attempting to access these channels now see a message stating the content is restricted due to government orders. Independent Indian media outlet The Wire was also reportedly blocked. Platform X revealed that the Indian government ordered the blocking of over 8,000 accounts, some belonging to independent media.

Faria Haque Tina, one of the two accused female students in the murder of Parvez, a Prime Asia University student, has been arrested. The conflict stemmed from a verbal altercation over a social media incident involving students from the University of Scholars. Later that evening, Parvez was attacked by a group of 30–40 people and fatally stabbed.

Tensions flared at the Bangladesh-India border near Naljuri Khasia Haor in Gowainghat as locals obstructed Indian BSF personnel during a joint survey. The incident occurred when BSF members allegedly crossed into Bangladeshi territory. Local residents protested their presence, and the situation escalated until both the public and BGB forced the BSF to retreat. The atmosphere is now under control, but locals accused the BSF of attempting to occupy the area’s playground.

Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen emphasized that Bangladesh must remain free from foreign interference and make independent decisions on domestic matters. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s sovereignty and mentioned an upcoming visit from China’s Commerce Minister along with a large delegation of investors—the largest ever from China to Bangladesh. He stated that peace and internal stability are essential for progress and that reforms are Bangladesh’s internal affair, distancing China from Western-style political commentary.

Amid an ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in New Delhi to co-chair the 20th India-Iran Joint Commission meeting. Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal welcomed the visit, calling it a significant moment as the two countries mark 75 years of diplomatic relations. The visit underscores strategic ties even during wartime tensions.

Despite pledges not to use lethal force at the border, India's Border Security Force (BSF) has killed 313 Bangladeshis over the past decade. Experts argue that curbing cross-border smuggling is important, but it must not come at the cost of human rights. Since January, seven Bangladeshis have been shot dead and 20 injured. Analysts stress that international pressure is key to reducing border violence.

A high-level delegation led by UAE Cabinet Minister Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan met with Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. Dr. Yunus expressed gratitude to the UAE for its progress on resuming visa issuance for Bangladeshi citizens. Sheikh Nahyan conveyed a message of solidarity from the UAE President and reaffirmed the country’s willingness to cooperate across sectors, from investment to visa facilitation. A joint meeting was held between Indian Deputy High Commissioner Chandra Shekhar and the Sylhet Coal Importers Group. Business leaders present at the meeting highlighted the ongoing import-export activities through several land ports and customs stations including Sheola, Tamabil, Zakiganj, Bholaganj, Borochhara, Charagaon, Bagli, Shela-Ichhamati, Juri, and Chatla. They urged the Deputy High Commissioner to take necessary steps to facilitate greater trade through these routes and requested easier issuance of business visas to ensure smoother movement for traders. The Deputy High Commissioner assured them that appropriate measures will be taken.

Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam has instructed all police superintendents in border districts to remain on high alert to ensure national security is not compromised amid escalating India-Pakistan tensions. The directive aims to prevent the entry of militants or terrorists into Bangladesh. Earlier, Bangladesh had already expressed concern over the conflict and stressed diplomatic efforts for regional peace.

Bangladesh's National Security Adviser has condemned the forced entry of people from India into Bangladesh, calling the act “unacceptable.” He stated that if the individuals are indeed Bangladeshi nationals, India must follow proper procedures to repatriate them. The comment follows an incident in Mujibnagar where 10 individuals were allegedly pushed into Bangladesh by BSF. According to BGB, BSF personnel dismantled barbed wire fencing and forcibly sent the individuals across the border.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has called on India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and focus on maintaining regional peace and stability. “We are aware of India’s military actions, and we find the situation extremely concerning,” said a spokesperson. China emphasized its opposition to all forms of terrorism and urged both nations—its neighbors—to avoid further escalation and work toward peaceful resolution.

The U.S. State Department has called on India and Pakistan to choose a responsible path toward resolving tensions, emphasizing the need for long-term peace and regional stability in South Asia.

Speaking to reporters, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said, "We urge both governments to move forward responsibly while maintaining peace and stability in the region. We have maintained communication with both sides at multiple levels."

Following the April attack that escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, the United States expressed sympathy toward India. Last week, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held phone calls with senior officials from both countries, urging restraint and de-escalation. Earlier, former President Donald Trump had described India's strike as "shameful."
