Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi stated that the first round of indirect talks between Iran and the U.S. took place in a “constructive and friendly environment.” The goal was to pave the way toward a fair and binding agreement. He concluded by mentioning economic progress and plans to strengthen bilateral ties with Mexico on the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain emphasized the need for a reliable partner in space technology during a meeting with Turkish Aerospace President Mehmet Demiroğlu. He stated that collaboration between Bangladesh and Turkey in this field could yield mutual benefits. Adviser Md. Mahfuz Alam was also present. Both parties agreed to explore investment opportunities and facilitate technology transfer for human resource development in Bangladesh. A high-level Turkish delegation, led by the CEO of Turkish Aerospace, is scheduled to visit Bangladesh soon to discuss further cooperation in space technology.

Information Adviser Md. Mahfuz Alam met with Turkish Minister of Trade, Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat, to discuss key aspects of bilateral trade and economic relations. Adviser Alam invited Turkish investors to explore opportunities in Bangladesh’s economic zones. Minister Bolat expressed Turkey’s interest in strengthening economic ties with Bangladesh and showed enthusiasm about holding the next Bangladesh-Turkey Joint Economic Commission meeting in Dhaka later this year.

Bangladesh has proposed the recruitment of a significant number of workers in Slovakia’s automotive and other sectors, along with easing visa procedures for Bangladeshi citizens. Foreign Affairs Adviser Tawhid Hossain made the appeal during a meeting with Slovak Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, Juraj Blanár. Emphasizing the importance of enhancing bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation, Adviser Hossain urged deeper engagement. Minister Blanár agreed to send a Slovak business delegation to Bangladesh to explore B2B opportunities and potential investment avenues.

The Secretary-General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Kairat Sarybay, praised Bangladesh’s active role in fostering regional trust. In a meeting with the Foreign Affairs Advisor, the two sides discussed enhancing cooperation and increasing CICA’s engagement with Bangladeshi officials. The Foreign Advisor also lauded Sarybay’s efforts in transforming CICA into a comprehensive regional organization. Information Advisor Mahfuz Alam was also present at the meeting.

During a meeting with ICC Prosecutor Karim A.A. Khan in Turkey, Advisers Md. Touhid Hossain and Md. Mahfuz Alam expressed deep sympathy for the suffering of the Palestinian people due to recent aggression. They appreciated the ICC’s stance on the Gaza situation and the Rohingya crisis. Bangladesh reaffirmed its unwavering support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in line with multiple UN resolutions. The advisers also emphasized the importance of accountability and justice for crimes against the Rohingya, calling for a lasting resolution to the crisis.

On April 8, 2025, during an investment summit, Bangladesh became the 54th country to sign the Artemis Accords, a set of international agreements focused on peaceful space exploration. U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Tracy Jacobson was present at the signing, with Bangladesh’s Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Mohammad Ashraf Uddin representing the government. The U.S. Department of State affirmed its commitment to the long-standing partnership with Bangladesh, stating, “For over 50 years, the U.S. and Bangladesh have enjoyed a strong relationship, and we remain committed to its continuation.” The Artemis initiative, launched in 2020 by the U.S. and seven other countries, now includes 54 member nations.

In a meeting held on Thursday, newly appointed Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Alexander Grigorievich Khodzine, and Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin reiterated their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two nations. The ambassador discussed various facets of the Bangladesh-Russia relationship and explored opportunities for mutual support in elections to international bodies, including UN agencies. The foreign secretary assured that Bangladesh will maintain constructive engagement with Russia in multilateral forums in line with its national interests and established diplomatic principles.

At an MoU signing with Japan’s Onodera User Run Inc., Advisor Asif Nazrul announced initiatives to increase employment opportunities abroad. Under the program, Bangladeshi workers will receive free training and certification for jobs in developed countries like Japan without incurring migration costs.

Retired Inspector General of Police (IGP) Moynul Islam has been appointed as Bangladesh’s ambassador to Poland for a two-year term, effective April 10. The appointment requires him to relinquish all affiliations with other professional or organizational roles. Moynul was previously appointed IGP following the fall of the Awami League government in August.

China has called on India to join forces in confronting the consequences of U.S. trade protectionism, particularly policies introduced under former President Donald Trump.

Yu Jing, spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in India, stated, “The China-India relationship is built on economic complementarity and mutual benefit. The unreasonable tariff policies of the United States have deprived many nations—especially in the Global South—of their development rights. As the world’s two largest developing nations, China and India should tackle these challenges together.”

She added, “No one wins in a trade or tariff war. Countries must uphold principles of broad consultation, genuine multilateralism, and jointly oppose all forms of unilateralism and protectionism.”

Russia and the United States have started a second round of talks in Istanbul to resolve issues affecting their embassy operations. The discussions, led by senior diplomats from both sides, aim to stabilize diplomatic missions without touching on political or security matters, including Ukraine. The talks follow years of mutual complaints about visa difficulties, restricted movements, and property disputes. Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain has left for Turkey to participate in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, as confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ public relations officer Kamrul Islam Bhuiyan. Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus was originally invited but could not attend. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will inaugurate the event. The adviser is scheduled to meet foreign ministers from Turkey, Slovakia, Azerbaijan, and Gambia, along with the Secretary-General of an international organization.
