Government Adviser M. Sakawat Hossain has announced plans to construct a central hospital dedicated to workers, offering comprehensive healthcare services. Speaking about the government's commitment to labor welfare, he mentioned that Bangladesh has ratified eight out of eleven ILO conventions. The government is also working to eliminate gender discrimination and workplace harassment and aims to align national labor laws with international standards. Sakawat emphasized that healthy labor-management relations based on mutual respect are essential for a productive work environment.

Seven women-led organizations have issued a 20-point demand to ensure safety and dignity for female migrant workers. Key demands include mandatory training on rights and safety before deployment, 24/7 help desks at embassies, rehabilitation and legal support for victims of abuse, equal pay with male counterparts, a digital reporting app, and stricter monitoring of recruitment agencies. Domestically, they called for safe rest areas, hygienic toilets, maternity benefits, compulsory welfare officers in factories, and child daycare centers in workplaces with 50+ female workers.

To curb the trend of buying party nominations with money, Labor Adviser M. Sakhawat Hossain suggested businesspeople should be affiliated with a political party for at least three years before contesting elections. He urged the Election Commission to formalize such rules. The adviser also said efforts are underway to sell assets of closed factories to pay workers' dues. If any new owners want to take over these factories and settle outstanding payments, they will be given the opportunity. On Rana Plaza, he said the Awami League government failed entirely in handling the crisis.
