Health Advisor Nurjahan Begum has instructed all private hospitals to provide free treatment to those injured in the Uttara plane crash. In a statement issued Monday night by the Ministry of Health, hospitals were told not to turn away any patients and to refer them to burn units or Dhaka Medical College if necessary.

According to Dr. Sayedur Rahman, Special Assistant Professor at the Ministry of Health, 17 children died in the crash of an F-7 BGI fighter trainer jet into a building of Milestone School. Seven bodies remain unidentified, and DNA testing will be necessary. As of now, 88 people are hospitalized, with 25 in critical condition. The National Burn Institute has urged the public to avoid visiting patients to prevent infection and announced that blood donations will be required starting tomorrow.

Grief has swept over a family home in Rajshahi following the tragic death of 27-year-old Flight Lieutenant Towkir Islam Sagar, who perished in a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crash in Dhaka’s Uttara area.

Sagar, a recently married young pilot, lost his life just six months after tying the knot. The fatal crash occurred at 1:06 PM on Monday near the Milestone College area in Uttara. The accident has, so far, claimed 19 lives and left over a hundred people injured.

Sagar was regarded as a highly promising officer within the Bangladesh Air Force. His family has traveled to Dhaka to receive his body. Burial arrangements are currently pending a final decision from the family.

Legal adviser Professor Asif Nazrul, who visited injured victims at the National Burn Institute, assured that the government would thoroughly investigate the Uttara plane crash. He later appealed via Facebook for the public to avoid unnecessary crowding around hospitals and to refrain from uploading photos or videos of the injured—particularly children. In response to the Uttara plane crash, the interim government has declared Tuesday, July 22, as a National Day of Mourning. As a result, the inauguration ceremony of National Fisheries Week 2025 has been postponed to Wednesday, July 23. According to the ISPR, 19 people were killed and 164 injured in the tragic accident.

President Md. Sahabuddin has expressed his profound sorrow and condolences over the fatal crash of an Air Force training plane on the Milestone School and College campus in Uttara.
