At a press conference held at the Commission of Inquiry on Disappearances on Tuesday afternoon, Chairman Moinul Islam Chowdhury stated that law enforcement personnel involved in disappearances bear individual criminal responsibility, but this does not extend to the entire force. He emphasized that criminals often try to evade the law by hiding behind their religion, community, or social group. However, criminal offenses are always a matter of personal liability, and blaming an entire agency is not justified. He added that proper legal proceedings would enhance the reputation of law enforcement agencies.

Due to the ongoing dollar crisis, foreign airlines have reduced 45 flights between Dhaka and Chittagong. As a result, passenger demand is rising sharply, leading to a significant increase in airfares. Experts blame the high travel taxes, ground handling fees, landing, and parking charges, along with the dollar shortage. They also hold the government’s circular on group ticket sales responsible, accusing it of creating chaos in the ticket pricing system. According to the new guidelines, no airline can hold a ticket booking for more than three days, which has upset many stakeholders.
