A controversy has emerged over the results of the third-year English department examinations at Dhaka College, one of the seven government colleges affiliated with the University of Dhaka. A student, Ramim Fakir, alleged that he was marked as passed in a course he did not attend due to illness, while being shown as failed in another course he actually took. The incident has raised questions among students about the transparency of the result publication and answer script evaluation process.

Dhaka College Principal Professor A.K.M. Elias said the matter had not yet been brought to his attention but assured that any formal complaint would be forwarded to the University of Dhaka for investigation. English Department Head Professor Anupama Pal stated that the college had no role in the examination process, which was conducted by the university. Examination Controller Himadri Shekhar Chakraborty acknowledged that such discrepancies could occur due to inconsistencies in script evaluation and promised corrective measures once verified.

University authorities emphasized that ensuring accurate results for all students remains their top priority and pledged steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Germany’s Münster University has established Europe’s first independent Islamic theology faculty at a public university. The faculty will be part of the under-construction Campus of Religions, which will also house Catholic and Protestant theology departments. The campus, located in the western German city of Münster, is scheduled to open in 2027, according to a report by Deutsche Welle.

Founding dean Mohanad Khorchide described the initiative as a historic milestone and expressed gratitude for being part of it. Formerly head of the university’s Center for Islamic Theology, Khorchide said the new faculty will promote a liberal and enlightened interpretation of Islam and will be able to grant its own PhD and research degrees. The faculty’s policies emphasize compatibility between Islam and democracy, contemporary Quranic interpretation, and interfaith dialogue, while opposing extremism and antisemitism.

The university expects the number of students to exceed 500 in the coming years. A new master’s program titled “Islam and Social Work” is planned for 2027 to train professionals for youth services, hospitals, and elder care. Officials and academics have called the initiative a milestone for academic theology in Europe.

Students of the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine (ASVM) at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (ShEkribi) continued their protest for a second consecutive day on Monday, July 6, 2026, boycotting classes and exams. They are demanding investigation into why none of the 18 candidates from their faculty were recommended for the 47th BCS technical cadre despite participating in the viva, and calling for a separate code for combined degree holders along with three other demands.

The sit-in began at 10:30 a.m. under the M. Mahbubuzzaman Building, where faculty members, including Dean Professor Dr. Jahangir Alam and Proctor Professor Dr. Arfan Ali, expressed solidarity with the students. However, students voiced frustration that not all teachers attended. The dean assured that the university and the Public Service Commission (PSC) were taking steps regarding the combined code issue and allowances for intern veterinarians.

Despite the proctor’s request to resume classes to avoid session delays, students rejected the appeal, vowing to continue the boycott until visible progress is made on their four-point demands.
