BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that an Awami League figure was responsible for “heinous misconduct” in Muradnagar but the ruling party was falsely blaming the BNP.

“Sheikh Hasina may have fled, but her accomplices remain, continuing their misdeeds,” he said, adding that the lack of strong action by law enforcement was emboldening such activities.

He demanded swift prosecution of those involved. Meanwhile, the local chairman described the incident as “a mere extramarital affair,” claiming that student activists from the ruling party laid a trap, caught the couple red-handed, and filmed them.

NCP Convenor Nahid Islam announced plans to hold a public reading of the July Declaration and Manifesto on August 3 at the Central Shaheed Minar, marking Anti-Fascism Day.

He said the declaration was meant to be accepted by consensus and implemented within 30 working days, which have now passed without any government action. “To honor the historic context of July, constitutional recognition, and the martyrs’ legacy, this declaration is essential,” he added.

He called on citizens to join the event and voice their collective aspirations.

From July 1 to July 30, the National Citizen Party (NCP) will organize a countrywide program titled July March for Nation-Building. NCP Convenor Nahid Islam announced, “Starting July 1, we will commemorate the anniversary of the July Uprising. A year has passed—there have been achievements, but also disappointments. Remembering the historic 36 days of July-August is our moral duty.”

The march will begin with a visit to the grave of martyr Abu Sayeed. The campaign will travel across the nation and conclude back in Dhaka. Additionally, NCP will observe “Anti-Discrimination Martyrs’ Day” on July 16.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has responded cautiously to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s call for political dialogue, stating that discussions can only occur if the government genuinely fosters a conducive environment. Raids and arrests of party members contradict the spirit of dialogue, the party said. PTI leader Asad Qaiser emphasized that no formal decision will be made until internal consultations take place. He also criticized the authorities for denying access to the party's founder, calling the current conditions incompatible with meaningful talks.

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman condemned the sexual assault in Muradnagar, calling it a “deeply shameful” act and demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice regardless of their social or political influence. He stated, "Ignoring such criminals will turn society into a lawless jungle." The main accused, Fozor Ali, has already been arrested, along with three others who shared footage of the victim online.

Dhaka, Bangladesh – BNP leader Aminul Haque reaffirmed the party’s commitment to aligning its political strategy with the will of the people. “Our oath is that our path is guided by the people,” he said.

He accused the ruling Awami League of imposing authoritarian control over the population for the past 17 years. He also stated that any party member involved in wrongdoing will not be shielded, and only those dedicated to the movement will be prioritized during membership renewals.

Haque cautioned against ongoing “domestic and international conspiracies” aimed at delaying the national elections scheduled for February and called for unity in facing these challenges.

Dhaka, Bangladesh – Revolutionary Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque expressed optimism that the recent meeting between the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and the Chief Adviser has clarified uncertainties about the potential general elections in February 2026.

He urged the Election Commission to announce a clear roadmap promptly. “Elections have been turned into tools for political profiteering,” he remarked. To ensure fairness, he proposed making parliamentary positions less financially lucrative.

Haque criticized the government’s controversial stance on various issues, including its intention to lease strategic assets like seaports to foreign entities, arguing that a truly accountable government would never make such a move.

Mahmudur Rahman Manna, president of Nagorik Oikya, has labeled Sheikh Hasina a “vile dictator” and declared that the Awami League can never come back with a positive public image.

Manna said, “There is no possibility of forgiveness for the brutal oppression, torture, and massacres the Awami League has committed over the last 15 years. Anyone supporting them should be arrested and punished.”

He also expressed doubts about the Awami League’s eligibility to participate in the upcoming national elections, saying that if Sheikh Hasina and her followers face legal consequences, they will be disqualified from running.

Regarding the recent uprising, Manna noted that young leaders have taken charge, earning public sympathy. However, he acknowledged their inability to fully connect with the masses so far and stressed the need for greater unity and maturity in their words and actions.

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman has announced that the party supports holding national elections within the government’s declared timeline—provided necessary reforms are implemented.

He proposed conducting local government elections first as a way to assess the Election Commission’s capabilities. “Without elected representatives, local government bodies are causing public suffering,” he noted.

Shafiqur also highlighted Jamaat’s long history of sacrifice and repression, stating that top leaders have been wrongfully executed and imprisoned. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to truth and justice.

Referring to past public uprisings, he said, “The spirit of the mass movements in July and August can never be erased. The patriotic people of Bangladesh must unite to build a nation free of inequality.”

BNP leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has promised that his party will create jobs for 10 million people within 18 months if voted into power. "Our top priority will be the IT sector," he said, adding that young people with at least an SSC qualification would be given employment opportunities in technology.

He also emphasized the need to keep politics and business separate, stating that the BNP would work to eliminate fascism and promote economic reforms. Khasru added that investors in agriculture would be supported and that there are plans to increase agricultural exports.

"Bangladesh’s economic creativity has been destroyed over the past 17 years. We can’t go back to old-style politics—people's expectations have evolved," he concluded.

In Fatikchhari, police have arrested Md. Alamgir Hossain (48), a local Awami League activist, for threatening to kill the Chief Advisor, Chief Justice, and Army Chief in a disturbing Facebook Live video.

The incident occurred on Friday night, during which Alamgir appeared on livestream brandishing a bloodied knife while issuing the threats. He also used obscene language throughout the video, which quickly went viral on social media and sparked widespread outrage. Many demanded his immediate arrest, which law enforcement executed shortly thereafter.

Dr. Zahid stated that the people of Bangladesh are now firmly on board the path to elections, and no conspiracy can derail the democratic process. “Any attempt to suppress this momentum will fail,” he declared.

He also emphasized the role of the interim government in delivering justice, implementing reforms, and restoring people’s rights—tasks that have already consumed ten months. “For the past 17 years, our movements have reached their climax in July and August, often culminating in mass uprisings.”

Dr. Zahid further criticized past elections, saying, “Look at what former Chief Election Commissioners Nurul Huda and Habibul Awal are now saying. Elections in 2014, 2018, and even 2024 were pre-designed blueprints that deprived citizens of their fundamental voting rights.”
