No Tyrant Will Return if Justice Prevails: Jamaat Leader

SM Mizanur Rahman Mizan, personal officer to Sheikh Hasina, was arrested by New Market police around 10 PM on Wednesday. Officer-in-Charge Mohsin Uddin confirmed that Mizan was detained in connection with a murder case linked to a mass uprising. He was handed over to police by students of Dhaka College and pedestrians who recognized him. Further legal action is pending.

Sheikh Hasina’s Personal Officer Arrested by New Market Police

Three individuals, including a female anti-discrimination advocate and two coordinators, were reportedly assaulted by activists of the Feni Government College unit of Chhatra Dal on Tuesday. The victims have been identified as Abdullah Al Mahfuz, Salman Hossain, and Nadia Akter Khushi. According to them, the attackers were led by recently expelled senior joint convener of the Feni Chhatra Dal, Zillur Rahman, and his associates. Salman said they were returning from visiting a hospital patient when around 15–20 Chhatra Dal activists attacked them. The NCP noted that Zillur had previously been accused of threatening a journalist with death.

Former Member of Parliament Sheikh Helal Uddin and his son, also former MP Sheikh Tonmoy, have been named in a Tk 200 crore extortion case filed by Abdul Mannan Talukder, Managing Director of New Bashundhara Real Estate. The complaint, lodged at Bagerhat Model Police Station, also names Sheikh Helal’s aide Md. Firozul Islam, Tonmoy’s aide M.H. Shaheen, and Sheikh Shahidul Islam. Police have arrested Shahidul and produced him in court.
