NCP leader Sargis Alam stated, “This country doesn’t belong to any specific religious group; it belongs to all citizens of this nation. We live together in harmony. Since August 5, many people have left various places. This causes bleeding in our hearts because those behind these actions are opportunistic occupiers. These actions occurred during the time of the Awami League and are still happening. We must resist them.” On a recent altercation with a BNP leader at a local office, he added, “National-level leaders share a respectful mutual relationship. However, at the local level, certain parties seem to assume that they are opponents.”

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, currently visiting London, faced protests during her speech at Oxford University’s Kellogg College. The session was interrupted by audience members questioning her on the murder of a doctor at R.G. Kar Hospital, post-election violence, and recent incidents at Jadavpur University. Protesters attempted to raise their concerns by shouting during her speech. Mamata responded calmly, saying, “Do not bring politics here. This is not a political stage. If you want to engage in politics, come to my state and do it with me.”

BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi defended the protests, stating, “Some question whether the protests were solely about the election. The reality is, the movement happened because the election was not fair.” He emphasized that the interim government was formed through widespread protests and sacrifices, gaining public support despite not being elected. Rizvi criticized the uncertainty surrounding the election date, saying, “One day they say it will be in December, then March, then June. The nation deserves a clear date.” He also asserted that Ishraque Hossain rightfully earned his mayoral recognition through judicial processes, dismissing social media criticisms as irrelevant.

Political leader Ishraq Hossain expressed relief after receiving a long-awaited court verdict. “After almost five years of legal battles, I finally got the ruling yesterday. This verdict is a victory for justice,” he said. Addressing online speculation and misunderstandings, Ishraq clarified, “Some people mistakenly believe the case was filed after August 5, but according to local government election laws, complaints must be lodged within 30 days of the election. This case was filed within that timeframe. However, the authoritarian government deliberately delayed its resolution, which should have been completed within 180 days.”

Police in Thakurgaon seized 69 sacks of Open Market Sale (OMS) rice and arrested Aminul Islam, accused of involvement in smuggling government-subsidized rice. Aminul, who served as the convenor of the BNP-affiliated Volunteer Group in Begunbari Union, was caught red-handed with others transporting the rice in a Mahindra vehicle for illegal sale. Local authorities confirmed Aminul’s expulsion from the party and alleged that four others—Kamal Haq, Sultan, Nur Amin, and Wadud, all linked to BNP—were also involved in the illegal operation.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, extended Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to the nation. In a statement, he remarked, "After a month of fasting, Eid-ul-Fitr brings a message of joy. The nation is celebrating this Eid at a time when the people have achieved their second independence through a mass movement led by students and citizens. Freed from 15 years of oppression, people can now breathe in a liberated environment, speak freely, and live in peace." He also prayed for the martyrs and the injured while expressing hope for a free and fair election.

Dr. Redwan Ahmed, Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), has claimed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina offered $100 million, 10 parliamentary seats, and two ministerial positions to him and Colonel Oli Ahmed in exchange for contesting the 2014 elections.

Redwan stated that they rejected the offer, as they believe in serving the people rather than personal gains.

Akhtar Hossain, Secretary of the National Coordination Party (NCP), has stated that elections will only take place after visible reforms in governance and judicial processes.

Speaking at a public rally in Rangpur-4, he criticized the Awami League and Jatiya Party, accusing them of staging three “dummy elections” and supporting the July genocide.

Hossain emphasized the need for justice and a ban on fascist political entities, stating, “The people of Bangladesh no longer want to be ruled under an authoritarian and undemocratic constitution.”

BNP leader Khairul Kabir Khokon has criticized the ruling Awami League, calling its leaders “refugee freedom fighters.”

He claimed that while Ziaur Rahman announced independence and fought on the battlefield, Awami League members fled to India and lived in luxury hotels during the 1971 Liberation War.

Khokon emphasized that the people of Bangladesh must decide through elections which government will serve them best. He also highlighted ongoing economic hardships, stating that 72% of Bangladeshis cannot afford nutritious food, while 42% live below the poverty line, and 35% struggle to eat two meals a day.

A sedition case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for allegedly conspiring to overthrow the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The case, filed by CID with approval from the Home Ministry, also names US Awami League Vice President Dr. Rabbi Alam and 503 others. CID claims an online meeting on December 19, 2024, discussed forming a “Joy Bangla Brigade” to reinstate Hasina through civil war. The court has accepted the case and ordered an investigation.

NCP Convenor Nahid Islam stated that for those who suffered under Sheikh Hasina’s rule over the past 15–16 years, March 24 represents a second independence. He criticized politicians engaged in exploitative politics, asserting that relations with India must be based on equality and fairness. He pointed out ongoing issues such as border killings and the lack of equitable water-sharing agreements.

He also stressed the need to document the actual number of casualties in the anti-Modi protests, describing them as part of the broader anti-fascist struggle. Nahid Islam further asserted that Sheikh Hasina’s governance was sustained with Indian support, and accountability must be ensured for all political violence, disappearances, and killings under her rule.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, to remain united against those who are once again engaging in destructive activities to destabilize the country. He stated that repeated violent incidents are being orchestrated to put pressure on the interim government. Emphasizing the need for strict action, he called for stern measures against the perpetrators.

Mirza Fakhrul specifically condemned the brutal killing of Nasir Uddin, the Organizational Secretary of the Krishak Dal Sitakunda unit and General Secretary of the Barbakund Union branch. Armed assailants attacked and killed him in a gruesome manner. Expressing deep sorrow, Fakhrul demanded exemplary punishment for those responsible.

The Islamic Movement Bangladesh has strongly opposed the Mongol Shobhajatra, calling it inconsistent with Islamic values. Spokesperson Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman stated, “Bengali New Year celebrations have a traditional rural significance, but attempts to incorporate anti-Islamic elements under authoritarian rule have distorted its meaning.”

He criticized the influence of Kolkata’s elite Hindu culture in shaping the parade, arguing that no festival should be imposed in a way that disregards the beliefs of the country’s Muslim majority.

BNP leader Ishraq Hossain has been declared the rightful mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) by a court ruling on the 2020 election. Commenting on the verdict, he said, “We have received justice, and that is the real victory. Whether I take office or not is entirely a party decision.”

Hossain added that the ruling signals a broader shift toward restoring justice in Bangladesh. “The fall of the fascist Hasina regime will bring back fairness in governance. Let this be the start of that journey.”

The 12-party alliance has submitted its stance to the National Consensus Commission, agreeing with 110 out of 166 proposed reforms, rejecting 48, and seeking further discussion on 8.

Alliance spokesperson Shahadat Hossain emphasized that reforms beyond electoral matters should be implemented by an elected parliament. “We strongly oppose proposals such as renaming the country, holding referendums, and restructuring local government elections.” The alliance has also demanded that the general elections be held by October.
