Rangpur Awami League leader Lipi Khan Bhorosa has been arrested by the police in connection with an attempted murder case related to the recent mass uprising. She had openly participated in Tipu Munshi’s election rally and is also the chairperson of SL Bhorosa Group. Reports indicate that on July 19, protestors gathered in front of City Market when police and Awami League activists opened fire on them, injuring several people. On November 13 last year, a case was filed at Kotwali Police Station regarding the shooting of Mamunur Rashid Mamun. Lipi Khan is listed as the 179th accused in this case.

Tarique Rahman has taken responsibility for the family of Montu Chandra Das, who was murdered after filing a case against his daughter’s rapists. On Sunday evening, Rahman spoke with Montu’s wife over the phone, assuring her of support.
