The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former Land Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda for allegedly amassing wealth beyond known income sources during his tenure. A separate case has also been filed against his wife, Usha Rani Chanda, on similar charges. Investigations found that Narayan Chandra Chanda possessed illegal assets worth Tk 17.97 million, while his wife had Tk 6.24 million in undeclared wealth. The ACC stated that the cases were filed as the charges were found to be substantiated.

Former Pakistani Prime Minister and cricket World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan is being held in solitary confinement in Adiala Jail, reserved for death row inmates, according to his party, PTI. Party spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram alleged that authorities are preventing Khan from meeting anyone, in violation of court orders. Imran Khan has been in jail since August 5, 2023.

BNP leader Shamsuzzaman Dudu has warned that the nation could face dire consequences if free, fair, and transparent elections are not ensured. A BNP leader in Gazipur’s Kaliganj has been accused of attempting to seize land and threatening the victim with eviction. The leader, Md. Ahmadul Kabir Khan Naeem, admitted to making the threats, claiming he spoke out of anger. The dispute involves a long-standing conflict over land between neighbors. A lawsuit has been filed in court by the victim’s family, who allege physical assault and verbal abuse during the incident on February 12.

Former Minister of State for Industry, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, announced at the court premises that he has completely withdrawn from politics. “I no longer hold any party position. Former Youth Dal leader Joydeep Chowdhury Madhab, who was previously expelled following protests by street vendors over extortion allegations, has been arrested in Sylhet. Police reports state that on February 28, Madhab and his associates allegedly kidnapped a vendor named Kajol Mia, took him to Sitara Mansion in Zindabazar, and forcibly extorted BDT 16,500 from him at knifepoint.
