BNP leader Goyeshwar Chandra Roy has stated that while freedom fighters like Fazlur Rahman hold special honor, their actions should still be subject to accountability.
Speaking on a talk show, Roy said: “Fazlur Rahman is a valiant freedom fighter and deserves respect. But that does not mean wrongdoing should go unpunished.”
He also criticized Fazlur’s recent use of aggressive language, saying political discourse would be better without such remarks.
On broader political issues, Goyeshwar dismissed banning parties as a solution and commented that Tarique Rahman has legitimate business interests in Bangladesh. “He will be the future Prime Minister,” Roy said.

The EC recently revised Pabna-1 to cover only Sathia upazila, fully merging Bera into Pabna-2.

NCP leader Sarjis Alam has alleged that the concept of a “refined Awami League” is an Indian idea, which will not materialize in post-coup Bangladesh.

He said those responsible for the BDR massacre, the Shapla Square killings of Islamic scholars, and the 2024 student uprising massacre “can never be allowed to participate in Bangladeshi politics.”

Sarjis compared the Awami League and Jatiya Party to “partners in crime,” insisting that just as Awami League’s activities have been banned, Jatiya Party’s should be too. He also warned against student politics being used to exploit schools, alleging it would lead to drug trade and extortion.
