Following discussions with the National Consensus Commission, Khelafat Majlish has demanded that Awami League be denied participation in elections before facing trial. Party Secretary General Dr. Ahmad Abdul Kader stated that the commission has agreed on 140 out of 166 reform points, disagreed on 10, partially agreed on 15, and required further discussion on one.

BNP leader Barrister A.M. Mahbub Uddin Khokon stated that the government will decide whether to ban the Awami League, but those guilty of crimes within the party must face justice. He noted that only a faction of the party is responsible for wrongdoing. He also criticized efforts to delay elections, warning that the longer elections are postponed, the greater public distrust in the government will grow.

BNP leader Ishraq Hossain claimed on Facebook that the people "buried" the Awami League on August 5. He insisted that after their trial, the party’s registration must be revoked, effectively issuing a "death certificate." He further stated that Bangladesh will not tolerate betrayal of its martyrs and called for banning the Awami League as a political entity, labeling it a "genocidal fascist organization." He also demanded action against the Jatiya Party for its alliance with the Awami League.

The National Consensus Party (NCP) will propose lowering the minimum voting age to 16 and the candidacy age to 23. Joint Convenor Sarwar Tushar stated that the reform recommendations would be submitted to the National Consensus Commission on Sunday. He also called for drafting a new constitution, asserting that the current one is no longer valid following the mass uprising. According to Tushar, the next election should be a Constituent Assembly, which will later transform into a legislative body after completing constitutional reforms.

At a press conference, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emphasized that the interim government must ensure accountability. He warned against any steps that could undermine the anti-fascist national unity. He also stated that reforms and election processes can proceed simultaneously, but the government must remain neutral. Regarding Tarique Rahman’s return, he said it would happen when the time is right.

Khilafat Majlis Secretary-General Maulana Mamunul Haque has warned that any attempt to rehabilitate the Awami League could lead to another uprising. Speaking at a rally after Friday prayers, he stated that the ruling party must not be allowed to return to politics without facing justice.

Expressing anger over the Israeli atrocities in Gaza, he criticized the United Nations, the Arab League, and the OIC for their inaction. He also called on the Bangladeshi government to stand in solidarity with Palestine.

Mamunul Haque further condemned the persecution of Muslims in India, alleging that efforts are underway to spill Muslim blood under the guise of celebrations like Holi. He warned that if there is any attempt to desecrate the tomb of Aurangzeb, the people of Bangladesh will not remain silent.

BNP leader Hummam Kader Chowdhury declared that his party has no ties with those supporting the Awami League. He emphasized that justice for the disappeared and murdered BNP activists remains a priority and criticized the ruling party for continued attacks on opposition members.

Ali Ahsan Junaid, an organizer of the mass uprising, called on BNP, Jamaat, NCP, and other opposition groups to unite in banning Awami League. He warned against internal divisions and reaffirmed that any attempt to rehabilitate the party would be resisted.

BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan announced that the party will hold a press conference on Saturday at 11 AM at its Gulshan office. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and senior party leaders will address the media on the current political situation and national affairs.

BNP leader Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu claimed that the same conspirators who smeared Tarique Rahman’s name during his political peak are once again plotting. He accused these forces of benefiting from a vote-less government and of working against dedicated BNP leaders like Barrister Aminul Haque.

Gana Adhikar Parishad leader Abu Hanif criticized the government for failing to officially ban the Awami League despite public opposition. He argued that the League had engaged in enforced disappearances and election rigging over the past 15 years, leading to the July uprising. He warned that any attempt to rehabilitate the party would be met with mass resistance.

BNP leader Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie stated that if Awami League is to be banned, it must be done through the judicial process. He insisted that not only Sheikh Hasina but also her family, ministers, MPs, and all officials involved in misgovernance must face justice. He lamented that despite seven months passing since the July uprising, Hasina and her family’s trial has yet to begin.

During an Awami League procession, three individuals were detained and later handed over to Mohammadpur police after being physically assaulted. The detainees include Lubna (35), a central member of the Jubo Mohila League, along with Sirajul (45) and Raju (30). Additional Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Police, Jewel Rana, confirmed the arrests but did not provide details on further legal actions against them.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has stated that emotional decisions cannot solve public problems; instead, actions must be based on reality. He emphasized that the party would not take any steps that could lead them astray. Addressing the issue of Tarique Rahman’s exile due to legal cases, he assured that Rahman would soon return to the country. Fakhrul also urged the interim government to implement necessary reforms and hold elections without delay.

At a BNP iftar gathering, acting chairman Tarique Rahman warned that the interim government must not take any steps that could rehabilitate fugitive fascist leaders.

He stressed the importance of restoring voting rights, noting that young people in Bangladesh had been deprived of their right to vote for over 15 years.
