Ali Amin Gandapur, Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, declared that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will organize an armed march towards Islamabad demanding the release of Imran Khan. “If fired upon, we won’t just retaliate—we’ll respond with full strength,” he warned. Gandapur announced Imran Khan as the party’s "Patron-in-Chief" and said he would lead the nationwide movement. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar has already called for mass protests on June 22, with Gandapur’s full support.

Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, during his Middle East visit, stated that Germany, France, and the UK are ready to mediate immediate talks with Iran over its nuclear program. He expressed hope that Iran would accept the proposal to ease tensions with Israel. Speaking to German broadcaster ARD, Wadephul stressed that a key condition for resolving the conflict is ensuring Iran poses no threat to Israel, the broader region, or Europe.

BNP leader Ishraque Hossain announced on Sunday that the protest movement will continue, accusing the local government advisor of violating the constitution. He urged the chief advisor to personally oversee the situation. Despite the ongoing movement, Ishraque assured that daily operations of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will not be disrupted to avoid public suffering. “We respect the law. Accept the people’s verdict reflected in the court's ruling,” he added.

ABM Zakaria, a leader of Islami Andolon Bangladesh, has announced that the grand rally of Pir Saheb Chormonai on June 28 at Dhaka's historic Suhrawardy Udyan is expected to turn into a "sea of people." He emphasized that elections must follow a July declaration and essential reforms. Zakaria also criticized the past 54 years of electoral systems in Bangladesh, saying they failed to reflect the people's full mandate. He advocated for a proportional representation (PR) system, which ensures fair, transparent, and participatory elections—already adopted by around 91 countries globally.

Supporters of BNP leader Ishraq Hossain will hold a sit-in and protest at Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Sunday as part of a continued movement demanding he be handed mayoral responsibilities. Ishraq is also expected to announce a new set of protest programs at 11 AM at the City Hall. Previously, the movement ran continuously for 22 days before being paused on June 3 to avoid public disruption during Eid. Ishraq temporarily suspended the City Hall blockade and softened the protest strategy at that time.

The opposition’s nationalist coalition believes the recent London meeting between BNP’s acting chairperson Tarique Rahman and chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has removed uncertainty regarding Bangladesh’s next national election.

The alliance praised the decision to hold elections before Ramadan as a positive step bringing hope to citizens. They also viewed the meeting’s discussions on reform, justice, and elections as constructive progress.

All 90 master's students from the Chemistry Department at Kushtia Government College failed due to the department head, Rokonuzzaman, failing to submit their oral exam results to the National University.

College principal Ruhul Amin apologized and stated, “We’re working to resolve this issue. Those responsible for this mishap will be held accountable. We hope to fix this soon.”

Speaking at an event organized by the Mohammadpur East Thana unit of Jamaat-e-Islami, where clean drinking water was distributed amid an ongoing heatwave, Jamaat leader Muhammad Rezaul Karim said, "No election will be credible without comprehensive reforms and justice for the July massacre."

He added, "The August movement was not about a mere change in power—it was about a transformation. Jamaat is a people-oriented, welfare-focused, and democratic party. We have always played a pioneering role in democratic movements and stood by the people during times of crisis."

Rezaul Karim also called on the socially conscious and affluent members of society to step forward and support the marginalized during this extreme heatwave.

Prominent economist Anu Muhammad criticized the proposed budget, saying it follows the same old trajectory and fails to reflect meaningful change. "Development is visible only in headlines. In reality, the budget is putting people's lives at risk," he remarked.

He urged the government to revise the budget before June 22, addressing its existing flaws. Anu Muhammad noted that many reform committee recommendations have been ignored and warned against the lack of reassessment of ongoing mega projects like Rooppur, Matarbari, and Rampal. "The government says it wants to move away from mega projects, but we see no real effort to exit those that are already underway."

BNP leader Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu has called for immediate national elections, stressing that meaningful reforms will come from the elected government. "The reforms being discussed are unnecessary if the country follows the 31-point program proposed by Tarique Rahman in 2022. That blueprint already lays out a comprehensive reform agenda," Dulu said.

He argued that any delay in elections under the pretense of reform is unjustified. "If BNP returns to power, it will govern based on those 31 points—which represent a charter for the liberation of the Bangladeshi people," he added, saying the reforms would cover all sectors, including agriculture, labor, judiciary, and democracy.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi accused India of provoking unrest along the border through forceful pushbacks. "By tripping and shoving people at the border, India is attempting to stir up trouble. If they continue to disregard Bangladesh’s sovereignty, they must be prepared to take responsibility for the consequences," Rizvi said.

He also criticized the ruling Awami League, alleging rampant corruption: "The Awami League’s leaders and ministers have embezzled public funds and laundered money abroad. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina must be held accountable."

Saiful Haque, General Secretary of the Revolutionary Workers Party, has urged the government to complete ongoing political reforms within a month. He stressed that the work of the National Consensus Commission should be finalized by June or July. Calling for the signing of a ‘July Charter’ by all political parties, he also demanded justice for those responsible for last year’s deadly crackdown, comparing their crimes to the war criminals of 1971. Haque also highlighted his party’s resistance against past fascist regimes.

Rashed Khan, General Secretary of Gano Adhikar Parishad, has declared that the upcoming national election will be the best in Bangladesh’s history. Urging voters to reject extortionists, occupiers, and those involved in mafia networks or fascist activities, he called on citizens to support candidates with clean images. He also announced the party’s preparation to contest all 300 parliamentary seats. Rashed Khan made these remarks while exchanging Eid greetings in Jhenaidah, where he also participated in a motorbike rally.

Responding to Jamaat-e-Islami’s criticism, BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has denied claims that the party received any special favor from Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus. He clarified that Jamaat’s own earlier suggestion of holding elections before Ramadan 2026 aligns with the newly announced election timeline. Salahuddin urged Jamaat and others to view the London meeting from a national perspective, beyond narrow partisan interests.

Venezuela has strongly denounced the recent Israeli airstrikes on Iran, aligning itself with nations like Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
