Dina Khaled Zaurub, a 22-year-old Palestinian artist known for painting portraits of victims of Israeli bombings, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza. In 2015, she received the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights award for her work highlighting the plight of children in armed conflict. Her family’s tent near the Sand Beach Resort in western Khan Yunis was hit by a bomb, resulting in her death.

A Hamas delegation currently participating in negotiations in Cairo has described the ongoing talks aimed at ending the war in Gaza and opening border crossings for humanitarian aid as “responsible” and “positive.” Hamas confirmed that discussions are also underway with the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah regarding the reconstruction of Gaza and the integration of Palestinian institutions in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. “We remain open to new proposals as long as the talks focus on a full cessation of hostilities in Gaza and a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces,” the group stated. “We will not compromise on our legitimate demands: a total end to the war, Israeli withdrawal, Gaza’s reconstruction, recognition of our political rights, and an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.”

In the past 24 hours, Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 37 Palestinians across Gaza, including six brothers who were distributing food to the hungry. The WHO reported that bombing near Al-Ahli Arab Hospital resulted in a child’s death due to disrupted medical services. Since 2023, Israel’s military campaign has killed 50,944 people and injured 116,156 in Gaza. Since March 18 alone, 1,574 Palestinians have died and 4,115 more injured.

In retaliation for Israel’s ongoing attacks on Gaza, Yemen’s Houthi rebels have launched ballistic missiles at Israel. Although there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, air raid sirens were sounded across Israel on Sunday as a precaution. The Israeli military confirmed that the Iran-backed Houthis fired at least two ballistic missiles toward Israeli territory. Air defense systems attempted to intercept the projectiles. Authorities are currently investigating whether the missiles were successfully neutralized.

Israeli forces have advanced 12 miles into Syrian territory, escalating from air raids to direct land occupation. Several areas have already been captured, and at least nine military outposts have been set up. On December 8, Israeli troops launched a sudden attack on Rasem al-Rawadi near Quneitra. Local resident Ali al-Ahmad reported that homes were searched and some destroyed, with displaced families housed in schools. The village has been under Israeli control for the past four months, during which around 350 people have been forcibly evicted, and some have been killed. Israel claims support from Syria’s Druze population to legitimize the occupation. Protests have erupted across Damascus, Daraa, Khan Arnabah, Suwayda, Quneitra, and other areas. The Druze community has even rejected humanitarian aid in defiance of the aggression.

Two Israeli missiles struck a major hospital in Gaza, severely damaging the emergency and reception departments and causing widespread destruction. Photos circulating on social media show displaced families leaving the hospital, some dragging ailing relatives on hospital beds. Hamas’s government media office condemned the attack as a “heinous and despicable crime,” claiming it is part of Israel’s systematic plan to dismantle Gaza’s healthcare sector. They allege that 34 hospitals have been deliberately destroyed to deprive civilians of essential medical services.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claim to have taken full control of the strategic Gaza city of Rafah. According to IDF statements, the ‘Morag Corridor’ between Khan Younis and Rafah is now under complete Israeli control, effectively cutting the city off from the rest of Gaza. Rafah had become a primary refuge for Gazans after previous ceasefires, but Israel has now ordered civilians to evacuate this area as well. The Israeli Defense Minister stated that this is the final chance for Hamas to surrender and release hostages. “If Gazans don’t comply, Israeli operations will expand across the entire strip,” he warned.

US President Donald Trump has excluded smartphones, computers, and various tech devices from new reciprocal tariffs, including a steep 125% levy on Chinese goods. The decision follows warnings from US tech companies about potential price surges, with iPhones and other devices possibly tripling in cost. Many gadgets, especially Apple’s, are manufactured in China, though companies are shifting production to India and Vietnam. The exemptions serve as a temporary relief while the US negotiates better trade terms. China remains subject to higher tariffs.

According to Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal, Israeli forces have resumed airstrikes on Gaza in violation of the ceasefire, killing at least 500 children. One such strike targeted a newborn named Sham and her family. She lost her arm in the blast and died hours later. On the same day, orders were issued for evacuations in Shuja’iyya and Khan Yunis, leaving many Palestinians without any clear destination. Since March 18, over 1,500 Palestinians have been killed, and more than 3,800 wounded in renewed Israeli airstrikes.

While Donald Trump recently announced a 125% tariff hike on Chinese imports, the White House has clarified that existing tariffs raise the total to 145%. This includes a previous 20% duty already in place. China condemned the move as economic bullying, warning that prices for products like Apple devices will skyrocket.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have managed to destroy only 25% of Hamas tunnels, with 75% still operational, according to reports. In February, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz told News12 he personally witnessed several tunnels entering Egypt—some open, some sealed. IDF sources claim Hamas fighters have dispersed among civilians to avoid direct confrontation, with many allegedly hiding inside tunnels.

Ten people, including four children and two women, have been killed in a U.S. airstrike in a residential area of Hodeidah, Yemen, according to the country’s health ministry. The attack follows Houthi drone and missile strikes against Israeli-affiliated vessels in the Red Sea in solidarity with Gaza. In response, the U.S. resumed air operations in Yemen on March 15. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed their forces shot down a U.S. drone, launched a rocket at a military site in Tel Aviv, and attacked the USS Harry S. Truman with drones.

At least 26 Palestinians were killed and over 50 injured in fresh Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip. Among the dead were six members of the same family. In a separate development, Israel has closed six schools for Palestinian refugees in East Jerusalem.
Since the onset of renewed Israeli air raids on March 18, nearly 1,400 Palestinians have been killed and over 3,600 injured. The total death toll in Gaza has now surpassed 50,810, with more than 115,688 reported injured as the humanitarian crisis deepens.

A senior Hezbollah official has told Reuters that the group is open to discussing disarmament with Lebanon’s President, but only if Israel fully withdraws its forces from southern Lebanon and halts all attacks. The statement comes amid rising pressure following the 2024 Israel-Hezbollah war, which severely destabilized the region. The conflict led to the deaths of numerous senior Hezbollah leaders and thousands of its fighters, as well as the destruction of a significant portion of its rocket stockpile.
Lebanon’s U.S.-backed President Joseph Aoun, who took office in January, previously announced that all arms must fall under state control — a position that adds urgency to the unfolding negotiations.
