BNP leader Sultan Salahuddin Tuku accused associates of the ruling Awami League of involvement in looting and vandalizing showrooms and businesses during protests against Israeli aggression in Gaza. He said, “Those committing such acts in the name of protests cannot be true Muslims. Their goal is to destabilize the country. These are the ghosts of Awami League.”

NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah has criticized the country’s corrupt officials, noting that many of them are highly educated but morally compromised. “They’ve studied at top universities and earned good grades, yet failed to receive the right values,” he said. Over the past 16 years, corruption has seeped into every sector, he claimed, adding that ministers and MPs from the ruling Awami League have laundered billions overseas. Addressing students preparing for their SSC exams, he emphasized integrity, saying, “It’s not the same to avoid corruption because there’s no opportunity versus resisting it when you do have the chance. The latter defines true character.”

Jamaat-e-Islami leaders in Sylhet visited several businesses that were damaged during recent attacks and looting in the city. On Tuesday afternoon, they inspected vandalized shops including Bata Shoe Store, Bonoful, Pioria, and Hotel Royal Mark in Mirabazar. Expressing solidarity with the affected business owners, the leaders condemned the violence and stated, “Those involved in vandalism and looting are nothing but criminals; they cannot be considered part of the devout public.” They urged authorities to swiftly arrest the perpetrators using CCTV footage available from the attacked locations.

BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed has accused the previous Awami League government of indirectly recognizing Israel through fascist policies. Speaking at a student protest against the ongoing genocide and military aggression in Gaza and Rafah, he announced that BNP will soon unveil a central action plan to oppose Israeli atrocities. He called on the Muslim world to unite and take concrete steps against nations supporting Israel militarily and politically. Salahuddin also criticized the UN for its ineffective role, stating that Israel has consistently defied UN resolutions, undermining international justice. He urged both the citizens of Bangladesh and the global community to take a stand against Israeli aggression.

Police have arrested an imam, Ebadul Islam Faridi, for making derogatory comments about BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Facebook. He was produced in court Tuesday morning from Ashulia police station. The complainant had posted a photo of Khaleda Zia, to which Faridi responded with an offensive comment on April 5. A cybercrime case was filed under the Digital Security Act following the incident, citing harm to the party’s reputation.

Following the expiration of his anticipatory bail, Manikganj District Awami League President Golam Mohiuddin surrendered to court seeking bail. However, the court denied his request and ordered him into custody. Reports allege that Mohiuddin orchestrated attacks on protesters during the recent uprising using cadres from Jubo League and Chhatra League, and directed an arson attack on the district BNP office.

VP Nurul Haque Nur stated that student representatives currently in the government should resign to ensure neutrality, especially as one representative has already formed a new party. He emphasized that political parties, including the BNP and his own, have demanded this resignation. Nur added that although political groups have struggled for 16 years to overthrow fascism, they failed to mobilize the public until the student movement called for systemic political reform before August 5. He said the events of that day marked not only the fall of fascism but the collapse of the old political order.

Jamaat-e-Islami leader Dr. Rezaul Karim launched a scathing attack on Israel, accusing it of genocidal acts that surpass the brutality of pre-Islamic barbarism. He declared that Israel has become a terrorist state and called for its complete eradication from the world map. Karim urged a global boycott of not just Israeli products but also Jewish establishments worldwide. He warned that unless Israel halts its aggression, Muslim youth will be forced to march on Israel.

BNP leader Emran Saleh Prince has called on the Muslim world to unite in resistance against Israeli aggression. Highlighting the global protests against the Gaza attacks, he said the world cannot remain silent in the face of such atrocities against Palestinian men, women, and children. He urged the United Nations to take decisive action and demanded timely national elections to address broader conspiracies.

French President Emmanuel Macron strongly condemned Israel’s recent attacks on Gaza and the breach of ceasefire agreements. Speaking at a joint press conference in Cairo with Egypt’s President, Macron called for immediate talks to establish a ceasefire. He reiterated France’s opposition to the forced displacement of people from their homeland and the occupation of Gaza and the West Bank. Macron described the Israeli aggression as a gross violation of international law and a direct threat to regional security. He joined a summit with Egyptian President El-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II.

Sargis Alam, Chief Organizer of the NCP, accused Indian PM Narendra Modi of further cementing his status as an extremist Hindu nationalist. Referring to the approval of the controversial Waqf Bill, Alam called it a “black law” that compromises India’s secular democratic ideals. He stressed that true national consensus in India requires removing leaders like Modi from power.

At a protest rally in Dhaka against Israeli aggression in Gaza and India’s controversial Waqf Bill, the Dhaka Committee of the National Committee for People’s Rights (NCP) voiced strong condemnation. Speaking at the event, NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain declared, “Just as a ‘July revolution’ has occurred in Bangladesh, a day will come when Palestine too will witness its own July.”

He criticized global powers that continue to defend Israel’s crimes against humanity and called on the international community to take immediate and effective steps to stop the genocide in Gaza. Akhtar also demanded the cancellation of surveillance equipment procured from Israel during the Awami League’s tenure, labeling it a threat to Bangladesh’s sovereignty and independence.

The protest also included strong condemnation of India’s recently passed anti-Muslim Waqf Bill, with NCP leaders accusing both Israel and India of targeting Muslim communities with oppressive policies.

BNP leader Ishraq Hossain stated that no attempt to retain power without elections will succeed. “Even writing about elections on Facebook draws coordinated abuse, but we’re not backing down,” he wrote. He emphasized that over 125 million voters deserve a chance to vote. “We’ve been demanding fair elections under a neutral government since 2011. This year, it must happen, InshAllah,” he added. He also said the opposition would respect the public mandate and cooperate with the elected government.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir left for Singapore on Sunday for medical treatment, accompanied by his wife Rahat Ara Begum. Delwar Hossain, a potential Jamaat candidate from Fakhrul’s constituency (Thakurgaon-1), sought public prayers for him. “May Almighty Allah grant our respected leader complete healing,” he posted.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against Awami League Joint General Secretary Hasan Mahmud and his wife, Nuran Fatema, for allegedly amassing illegal wealth. Investigations revealed transactions worth Tk 722.91 crore across 65 bank accounts. Hasan is accused of possessing unexplained wealth worth Tk 1.11 crore, while Nuran is accused of acquiring Tk 5.52 crore beyond known sources of income.
