During a protest in Uttara, NCP leader Sargis Alam declared that justice must be served not only against Sheikh Hasina but also those who helped her become a “murderer.” He warned that her accomplices are attempting a political comeback, and some are trying to erase the label “killer” from her name. “Those responsible for such mass killings should have no right to contest in elections,” he said, adding, “If they dare to participate, the people will rise in a mass uprising.” Alam emphasized the need for Hasina’s trial before the next election, saying, “We’ve come this far at the cost of over 1,500 martyrs. Those obsessed with elections now only care about power, not justice.”

Islami Chhatra Shibir issued a statement demanding the withdrawal of all political cases within three weeks. They accused the Awami League of establishing fascist rule since 2008 and carrying out massacres during peaceful protests. Shibir claims 101 members have been martyred, thousands crippled, and many are still missing. With over 11,000 alleged false cases pending, they warned of nationwide protests if demands are not met.

NCP leader Abdul Hannan Masud alleged on Facebook that 14 university VCs threatened the Education Adviser not to remove KUET’s Vice Chancellor. “If this is true, all 14 VCs and the KUET VC must go,” he said. “We haven’t forgotten how some VCs previously encouraged repression at Hasina’s residence on August 2. Action is needed against these partisan VCs,” he added.

Students from the Democratic Student Parliament at Jahangirnagar University have launched an indefinite hunger strike demanding KUET VC Muhammad Masud’s resignation. The strike began at 11:45 AM Wednesday. Several students have fallen ill and been hospitalized. Organizer Zia Uddin Ayan accused the interim administration of ignoring the crisis and betraying the student body.

Shibir Secretary Nurul Islam Saddam cautioned, “Out of the 32 students on hunger strike at KUET, 27 have already fallen ill. The VC who owes his position to student protests now clings to power, creating unrest. His resignation is crucial. If any student is harmed, the government will not be able to contain the fallout.” Earlier, Hasnat Abdullah had also expressed solidarity with the students.

On August 5, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, along with ten others, reportedly took refuge in a room within the Parliament complex from morning till around 2:30 AM. They were eventually rescued by the military. Palak has stated he is open to interrogation. The court has granted a two-day police remand in a murder case filed with Vatara police. Shirin Sharmin remains in hiding, with her whereabouts—domestic or abroad—still unconfirmed.

BNP’s Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, after visiting the home of artist Manbendra Ghosh, stated that although pro-democracy forces support the interim government, it lacks constitutional legitimacy. He said it is now the government’s responsibility to determine how the Awami League will operate politically, given it controls the state machinery. Rizvi warned that unless war criminals within Awami League are prosecuted, the current administration will be deemed a failure.

BNP leader Mirza Abbas has claimed that five senior bureaucrats, including one outside the Secretariat, and certain members of the advisory council are working to derail the Chief Adviser. He warned the Chief Adviser to remain vigilant. Abbas also criticized YouTubers for allegedly fueling instability and questioned why those benefiting from Awami League-linked administrators in the bureaucracy remain untouched.

The Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested 10 more activists affiliated with the Awami League and its associated organizations in Dhaka, including members of the now-banned Chhatra League, for their involvement in flash protests. All are reportedly accused in various criminal cases. Meanwhile, a nationwide special operation led to the arrest of 1,610 individuals, according to the Police Headquarters. Law enforcement officials also recovered a homemade pipe gun, a single-barrel shotgun, one empty cartridge shell, and two defective rounds of ammunition. The special operation will continue.

For the first time since the recent mass uprising, the ruling Awami League staged a sudden march in Magura town on Tuesday, calling the ongoing tribunal proceedings a “farce” and demanding their closure. The march, held under the banner of the party’s Magura district branch, saw 15–20 participants wearing helmets and masks. Attempts to contact the Officer-in-Charge of Magura Sadar Police Station, Md. Ayub Ali, for comment were unsuccessful.

Nurul Islam Saddam, Secretary of Islami Chhatra Shibir, has criticized the lack of justice for what he called “Awami fascism” despite the existence of solid evidence. “This is not 1971, when there was little documentation and justice was difficult,” he said. Saddam expressed skepticism that future governments will pursue justice, citing historical examples like the political rehabilitation of Ershad after his ouster in the 1990s. He condemned those who remain silent about the July massacre and warned that the public will show them the “red card.” He also voiced frustration over sudden processions held by the ruling party.

BNP Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman has warned of an emerging threat from “invisible forces” and fascist conspirators in the country’s political landscape. “We must stand united to confront them,” he said. Rahman claimed that nearly 70% of the country’s development during recent decades took place under BNP rule. He emphasized preventive healthcare and the need to build a healthy, conscious young generation within the next decade. He also stressed the importance of incorporating moral values into primary and secondary education to foster responsible citizenship and leadership. “We want to build a harmonious Bangladesh beyond the identity of majority or minority,” he said, adding that if BNP is elected through a fair vote, it will implement its 31-point agenda.

The Nationalist Civic Platform (NCP) has declared solidarity with the students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), who began a hunger strike on Monday demanding the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor. NCP stated, “On February 18, KUET students were attacked with local weapons by members of Chhatra Dal and outsiders, but no proper action was taken against the perpetrators. Instead, the university expelled 37 students.” According to Saleh Uddin Sifat, although the administration has not publicly disclosed the names of the expelled students, a central leader of a student political organization claimed that seven of them belong to his party. “This raises serious questions about the administration’s neutrality,” said Sifat. NCP also demanded an impartial investigation into allegations of physical harassment against the Vice-Chancellor during the February incident. The platform criticized the government for inaction despite receiving a memorandum on the issue.

BNP has announced a major rally in front of its central office in Nayapaltan on May 1 to mark International Workers’ Day. The event, organized by the party’s labor wing, will feature Acting Chairman Tareq Rahman as the chief guest. Senior leaders, including Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, attended a preparatory meeting for the rally.

BNP leader Aminul Haque has said that elections without comprehensive reforms will not be accepted by the people. He stressed that those responsible for corruption in the sports sector over the last 17 years must be brought to justice by an elected government. He criticized any attempts to delay elections under the pretense of judicial reform and reiterated that the elections must be held by December.
